When the Mary Valley branch line was closed in the 1970's, it looked like the iconic railway line would be lost forever. However, a group of dedicated volunteers got together to form the Mary Valley Heritage Railway. The steam train, which they call the Rattler, runs four times a week through the valley. This is a great tourist attraction and has helped to keep the Mary Valley s vibrant tourist destination.
